Baseboards for pin up

Is there anything preventing a baseboard for the pin up model? Such as height restrictions. I know it’ll probably get in the way of a heat sink in the middle and access to the ad card but other than that…

Assuming the existence / availability of a facing-down mating connector to put on your above-baseboard, the only thing I would watch out for is the components on the underside of the snickerdoodle, see the "Backside of a snickerdoodle" thread here on the forum..
I was thinking the same thing. It doesn't look like there are any height restrictions aside from the heat sink if you're using it. Perhaps a bigger concern though might be proper heat dissipation from the Zynq part, especially if the snickerdoodle board is mounted upside-down.

The mating connectors for that seem to be the Samtec SFM series. Looks like that's what might be on the "pins-down" variant of the snickerdoodle.

Howdy folks. A similar question was asked during our 'fireside chat' a few weeks back...here's one answer: https://youtu.be/eHgrcNOmrNQ?t=3m45s

Some key thing to watch our for are heat dissipation (both for the Zynq and the power supply components - which is not to be overlooked if you're cranking the PL at full-tilt; and if you're loading the thing upside down you're likely to get some pretty gnarly 'stove piping' effects goin on), part clearances, access to buttons/SD card/microUSB, and interference with the on-board chip antenna (the latter can be alleviated by jacking an external antenna into the u.FL).

We'll have some more detailed mechanical drawings/models in the coming weeks but the tallest snickerdoodle components will definitely be the buttons. As far as Rob's point re: the bottom-side components, we'll likely be shipping a few adhesive rubber feet with the connectors up version so the board won't be resting straight on the ICs/passives.

Presumably the intention here is to be able to use a baseboard (or really more of a "shield") with the "connectors up" snickerdoodle in addition to being able to just hook up a bunch of housings/jumpers directly? As discussed in the YouTube clip, it's definitely *possible* - just not something we'd necessarily recommend. But for people who do want to do that, we may add the "down" connectors as a standalone option (similar to how the "baseboard connectors" are listed on the campaign page).
