How will we be able to interact with the gigglebits baseboard?
Will a datasheet be made available of the switch chip?

Unfortunately the datasheet for the switch chip is only available from Marvell after signing an NDA with them.
This isn't something we had any control over as all of the manufacturers of specialized switching ICs currently require NDAs in order to share their datasheets.
If you are developing a product we can probably put you in touch with a Marvell rep who can get you access to the datasheets.
We will also be releasing a C/C++ library that interacts with the switch IC over MDIO in order to configure its functionality.

That hasn't been fully decided yet.
We are using Creative Commons licenses on the hardware materials and in the past have used BSD licenses for open-source software but would be open to a discussion regarding the merits of GPL.
