Where is the best place to order a snickerdoodle black + breakout board?

Hello!

I’m really interested in buying a snickerdoodle black + breakout board, because I want to play with the FPGA. I’ve found them for sale on mybotshop.de for 299,95 € ($339.46 USD). That’s a bit expensive, but if they’re the only supplier who has them in stock, then I might go for it.

I read some comments on the “Monthly Status Update” post, talking about the Crowd Supply fulfillment. I sent an email to Crowd Supply as well, because the dates on that page seemed to be wrong. For snickerdoodle black they say: “Orders placed now ship Nov 08, 2018.” And for the piSmasher SBC they say “Orders placed now ship Aug 31, 2018.”
So I was worried about placing an order on Crowd Supply, because these dates are already in the past, and there was no estimate for how much longer I’ll need to wait.

I also looked at some of the other distributors listed on the krtkl store page:

  • Mouser Electronics
    • snickerdoodle one ($162.50)
      • "End of Life: Scheduled for obsolescence and will be discontinued by the manufacturer."
    • breakout board page ($59.00)
    • Their website is extremely hard to use. When I search "snickerdoodle", it just takes me straight to the breakout board page. Can't see any other results.
    • Doesn't seem to have the snickerdoodle black
    • Can't find the pin housings and jumpers
  • Digi-Key
Would it be possible to get an updated estimate for the snickerdoodle black on Crowd Supply? I'd rather pay $195 than $339.46, but I also wouldn't mind paying the higher price if there will be a significant delay with Crowd Supply (maybe > 4 months)

Hello, sorry for taking so long to respond! We’ve been beyond swamped.

Yes, the CS delivery dates are very confusing…we’ve asked for them to be updated but it doesn’t look like this has happened so we’ll follow up with them again.

The distributor pages are also a bit confusing. For starters, the only snickerdoodles they’re carrying in stock are Prime LE variants (7020 Zynq, 512MB RAM, Wi-Fi only). This was a limited run (hence the ‘LE’), which is why they show as EOL.snickerdoodle is NOT being EOL’d – only the Prime LE.

We are working with a couple distributors on stocking the black and baseboards; there will be more news on this in the coming weeks.
