wlan0 not found

wlan0: error fetching interface information: Device not found

Was looking a the steps in that doc but wlan0 is not found on my board - possibly it's defective?

I misread the part about rebooting - i thought I had to bring the interface up first .. after the reboot, the wlan0 was found and I was able to configure the wifi connection successfully.
